Interests

Dr. Hendrix's research examines America’s fascination with firearms and the relationship between guns and violence in society.  Her interests also include the impact of social class, race, and gender on crime and criminal justice issues. 

Recent Professional Activities

Dr. Hendrix will present research examining the nature of gun ownership in America, particularly focusing on the cultural aspects of gun ownership, at a poster session at the 2007 conference of the American Society of Criminology in Atlanta, GA.  She is also developing research, in collaboration with Dr. Egan Green and graduate student Joseph Yost, examining patterns of crime in the Appalachian counties of North Carolina and Tennessee.
